ByteDance has introduced Doubao 2.0, the latest version of its widely used artificial intelligence model, as competition intensifies in the global AI race.
The upgraded model is designed for what the company describes as the “agent era,” where AI systems move beyond answering questions to performing complex, real-world tasks. Doubao 2.0 includes advanced reasoning and multi-step task execution capabilities aimed at improving automation and productivity.
The launch comes as Chinese tech firms seek to maintain momentum following the rapid rise of rival AI models. ByteDance’s move appears to be a strategic effort to reinforce its position ahead of upcoming releases from competitors.
With approximately 155 million weekly active users, Doubao remains China’s most widely used AI chatbot application. The new version is also positioned as a cost-efficient solution for large-scale AI tasks, reflecting growing industry focus on balancing performance with operational efficiency.
