HyperX is expanding its hardware lineup with the Clutch Talon, a premium Xbox-licensed controller designed to compete with the high-end Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.
A premium controller with modern upgrades
The Clutch Talon borrows many features from Microsoft’s Elite controller but adds newer hardware improvements aimed at long-term durability.
The standout feature is the use of Hall effect analog sticks, which rely on magnetic sensors rather than traditional physical contacts.
Why Hall effect matters
Hall effect sensors are increasingly popular in gaming controllers because they can greatly reduce:
- Stick drift
- Wear over time
- Analog input degradation
For players who use controllers heavily, this could become a major advantage over older designs.
Elite-style customization
The controller includes a range of premium features, such as:
- Swappable thumbsticks
- Rear paddle buttons
- Adjustable trigger locks
- Multiple D-pad options
HyperX also includes desktop software for button mapping and fine-tuning controls.
Built for personalization
One of the more unique features is physical customization.
The front and rear plates attach magnetically and can be removed easily. HyperX plans to release 3D-printable files through Printables, allowing users to create custom faceplates.
This continues a trend seen in other HyperX peripherals that support user-created designs.
Wireless flexibility
The Clutch Talon supports:
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Wireless dongle mode
- Included phone mount attachment
The bundled phone grip screws securely into the controller rather than relying on clip-on accessories.
Price remains unknown
HyperX has not revealed pricing or release timing.
That could become the deciding factor, especially since Microsoft’s Elite controller still sits in the premium price tier.
For PC and Xbox players looking for a customizable controller with Hall effect technology, the Clutch Talon may become a serious alternative—if priced competitively.
