Verizon customers, past and present, who subscribed to traditional postpaid wireless plans within the last seven years might be entitled to a share of a $100 million settlement. The telecommunications giant is addressing claims that its service plans were misleading due to undisclosed administrative charges. The class-action lawsuit alleges that Verizon implemented, charged, and increased administrative fees for postpaid wireless or data services in a deceptive and unfair manner.
To qualify for compensation, you must be a current or former US customer who purchased postpaid wireless or data services from Verizon and paid an administrative charge or an administrative and telco recovery charge between Jan. 1, 2016, and Nov. 8, 2023. Postpaid wireless plans, where customers pay for the service after usage, are covered, while prepaid plan customers are not included in the settlement.
Verizon, with approximately 93 million retail postpaid customers as of Sept. 30, 2023, has set aside $100 million in a settlement fund. Eligible customers filing valid claims by the April 15, 2024, deadline could receive up to $100 each, depending on their duration as Verizon subscribers and the number of valid claims filed.
To claim your share of the settlement, visit the official Verizon administrative charge settlement website, fill out the claim form, and submit it online. Payments will be issued by check or electronic payment after the settlement is approved and finalized, with a scheduled hearing on March 22, 2024.
