In the immortal words of Weird Al Yankovic, “You dig giant robots, I dig giant robots, we dig giant robots, chicks dig giant robots.” With apologies to said chicks for unnecessary specificity, there’s no better way to enjoy giant robots than in video game form. And one of the best giant robot games ever made, Titanfall 2, is on sale today for just three greenbacks.

I’ve poured out my love for this game and its predecessor, bemoaning the fact the publisher EA and developer Respawn seem to have abandoned it in favor of Star Wars and battle royale. But to save you some reading time: it has a fantastic single-player campaign that’s worth the price of admission alone. Fast-paced, parkour-infused FPS action in “pilot” mode contrasts with stomping around in your robot pal for big action set pieces. The sci-fi buddy cop story is decent and the level design is occasionally jaw-dropping.

Titanfall’s multiplayer is also incredible, though to be honest, it might be a lot harder to experience a decade after the series debuted. A variety of loadouts can focus on mobility or firepower in either human or Titan forms (you get your giant robot after a few minutes and you can shave time off the ticker by performing well). But finding a server with active players in 2024 might be a bit of a crapshoot.

Still, if anything’s going to convince Respawn to go back to the series for one more glorious go-round, it’s a million or two more people buying the game. So please go play Titanfall 2 if you haven’t already. The $2.99 (90 percent off) Steam sale price is good for another 26 hours and change at the time of writing, ending at 1 PM Eastern US time on Thursday.
