The beauty of wireless headphones lies in their seamless setup, allowing you to dive into your favorite tunes effortlessly. However, not everyone experiences the same audio quality. If you’ve noticed issues like difficulty understanding callers or dissatisfaction with music playback, it might be time to adjust your settings to optimize your listening experience. Luckily, both your iPhone and AirPods offer customization options to fine-tune your audio.
Your iPhone comes equipped with EQ settings that can enhance vocals or adjust treble levels, while your AirPods offer features like spatial audio and transparency mode for personalized audio adjustment. If these settings don’t resolve your audio concerns, there’s a hidden gem within your iPhone that can help: Headphone Accommodations.
Headphone Accommodations is a feature available on select headphones, including recent AirPods, EarPods, and Beats models. To access this feature, ensure your device is updated to iOS 14 or later and navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Headphone Accommodations. Once enabled, you can choose to customize audio settings for phone calls, media playback, or both.
Before running the customization test, ensure you’ve updated to the latest iOS version and turned on Headphone Accommodations in your device settings. Additionally, disable any EQ settings in the Music app and pair your compatible headphones with your iPhone. Find a quiet environment to run the test for accurate results.
To run the Custom Audio Setup, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Headphone Accommodations and select Custom Audio Setup. Follow the prompts to listen to a series of audio samples and provide feedback based on your hearing ability. At the end of the test, your personalized audio settings will be automatically selected, optimizing your listening experience.
