Neowin has reported that Mozilla is extending its support for Firefox on older Windows versions. Originally set to conclude in September, support for Firefox on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 will now continue until April 1, 2025. Mozilla has yet to provide a detailed plan for this extended support but promises to release more information in the near future.
This extension comes in the wake of Microsoft ending support for its Edge browser on these older Windows versions in early 2023. For users who rely on these legacy systems, Firefox remains a viable and updated alternative. Mozilla’s ongoing commitment to improving Firefox is evident in its recent updates, which address security vulnerabilities and introduce user-friendly enhancements such as an upgraded Reader View in Firefox 129 and upcoming AI chatbot integration in Firefox 130.
