AMD Set to Reveal Radeon RX 9070 XT on February 28 Following CES Delay

After a confusing non-announcement at CES 2025, AMD is now fully prepared to unveil its next-generation Radeon graphics card. David McAfee, AMD’s Vice President of Ryzen and Radeon, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Radeon RX 9070 XT will be officially revealed on February 28 at 8 AM Eastern via the AMD Gaming YouTube channel.

The upcoming RX 9070 XT launch event follows an earlier briefing in January, where AMD initially planned to showcase its next-gen Radeon lineup at CES 2025. However, despite industry speculation, the company never explicitly mentioned new GPUs during its keynote. Following CES, AMD executives clarified that the delay was intentional, aiming to provide a dedicated event for what they described as a more complex, forward-looking GPU generation. However, some analysts suspect that Nvidia’s RTX 50-series reveal—which introduced Multi Frame Generation technology and came with unexpectedly competitive pricing—may have influenced AMD’s decision to push back its own announcement.

While AMD’s initial press briefing didn’t dive into specific performance details, it did outline the philosophical shift behind the RDNA 4 architecture. The Radeon RX 9070 and 9060 series will mark a major turning point for AMD by placing a greater emphasis on AI-powered hardware, acknowledging the growing role of AI upscaling technologies in modern graphics. With FSR 4.0 (AMD’s upcoming FidelityFX Super Resolution update), the company is fully embracing AI-driven upscaling, aiming to rival Nvidia’s DLSS more directly by leveraging dedicated AI processing cores.

According to AMD, the March release window for the RX 9070 XT aligns with the company’s efforts to further optimize FSR 4.0 ahead of launch. With AI-based upscaling becoming a key battleground in GPU performance, this could be AMD’s chance to close the gap with Nvidia and position its next-gen Radeon lineup as a competitive alternative in the high-end GPU space.

AMD’s February 28th event will likely provide a deeper dive into the RDNA 4 architecture, performance benchmarks, pricing, and release dates—all crucial details that gamers and PC enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating.
