Logitech has officially launched the Signature Slim Solar+ K980, a wireless solar-powered keyboard priced at $100. Designed to eliminate the need for disposable batteries or regular charging, this full-width keyboard features a sleek low-profile design, complete with a number pad and a modern black-on-gray finish. The solar panel strip is seamlessly integrated into the top of the board, making it more refined compared to Logitech’s older solar-powered models.

The standout feature of the K980 is its reliance on both natural and artificial light to recharge its internal battery, which can hold power for up to four months and has an expected lifespan of up to ten years. Logitech also notes that, unlike some past models, the built-in battery is replaceable should it eventually lose its ability to recharge. Alongside its eco-friendly solar design, the keyboard offers support for multi-device pairing, Logi Options+ software for customization, and a new dedicated “AI Launch” button, aligning with the company’s growing push into AI-integrated productivity tools.

Despite the modern refinements, some may find the K980 less revolutionary than it appears at first glance. Logitech released its first solar-powered wireless keyboards more than a decade ago, including models like the K750, which even featured backlighting. While the Signature Slim Solar+ K980 does streamline the solar concept into a cleaner package with better ecosystem integration, longtime Logitech fans may question whether it represents a major leap forward in keyboard innovation.
