Anthropic, one of the leading artificial intelligence startups, is negotiating a cloud computing agreement with Google worth tens of billions of dollars, according to Bloomberg News. The deal, still under discussion, would see Google Cloud provide large-scale computing resources to help Anthropic train and operate its expanding lineup of AI models, including its Claude chatbot.

The talks reflect the growing need for specialized cloud infrastructure as AI companies race to build more powerful systems. Alphabet’s stock rose 2.3% after the news broke, signaling investor confidence in Google Cloud’s strengthening position within the AI ecosystem.

Anthropic, already backed by Google and Amazon, competes directly with OpenAI in the rapidly expanding enterprise AI market. Reuters recently reported that the company aims to hit a $9 billion annual revenue run rate by late 2025, nearly tripling from current levels as adoption of its enterprise tools surges.

Neither company has commented publicly on the deal, but industry analysts say a partnership of this scale could reshape the economics of AI development by tightening the integration between AI firms and cloud providers. The deal would also reinforce Google’s role as a key infrastructure partner in the global AI arms race, competing head-to-head with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
