Apple is giving users a few extra months to migrate to its latest Home architecture, delaying the end of support for the older Home framework until February 10, 2026, according to a recent support update spotted by MacRumors. The move pushes back Apple’s previous timeline, which aimed to end legacy Home platform support by fall 2025.
The updated Home architecture, introduced nearly three years ago, promised more reliable and efficient operation for HomeKit-compatible devices. Early adopters faced issues with unresponsive hubs and devices stuck in “Updating” mode, prompting Apple to release a retooled version in February 2023. Since then, the platform has been running smoothly, though some users have hesitated to switch due to past bugs or concerns about device compatibility.
Another sticking point for some users is hub compatibility: the old Home system allowed an iPad to act as a hub, whereas the new architecture requires an Apple TV 4K or HomePod. With rumors of updated Apple TV 4K and HomePod models on the horizon, Apple’s extension gives users more time to plan their transition while preparing for new hardware.
