Apple has delayed the launch of the next-generation iPhone Air beyond fall 2026, amid sluggish sales of the current model, according to The Information.

Launched in 2025, the iPhone Air was designed as a lighter and thinner version of Apple’s flagship phone but faced criticism over battery life and camera performance. Analysts now suggest that the weaker-than-expected demand has prompted Apple to rethink its product timeline.

Apple has yet to comment on the report, and Reuters noted it could not verify the information independently.

The iPhone Air’s rollout in China has also been limited by regulatory and technical factors. The model is eSIM-only, meaning it lacks a physical SIM tray, a feature Apple introduced following the country’s approval of eSIM services earlier this year.

Industry experts say the delay could give Apple time to redesign the Air series to better differentiate it from the iPhone base and Pro models while addressing user feedback on battery and camera trade-offs.
