OpenAI has announced an expansion of ChatGPT’s app ecosystem, allowing users to connect the chatbot with a wider range of third-party apps. Alongside this, OpenAI has opened submissions for developers, who can now propose their own apps for review and potential inclusion in ChatGPT’s growing app library.

Users can access the ChatGPT app store through the Apps button in the sidebar. The store is organized into categories such as Featured, Lifestyle, and Productivity, making it easier to discover integrations tailored to different use cases. Once an app is connected, it can be invoked directly within a conversation by typing @appname, enabling ChatGPT to assist with tasks like booking reservations, ordering food, or managing everyday workflows.

On the developer side, OpenAI is also extending functionality beyond ChatGPT itself. Developers can now link their ChatGPT apps to external websites or applications to complete purchases of physical goods. Support for digital product purchases is currently in development, signaling OpenAI’s broader push to turn ChatGPT into a more capable hub for real-world transactions and services.
