French AI firm Mistral AI has acquired Paris-based cloud services startup Koyeb in a move aimed at strengthening its infrastructure capabilities.
The deal marks Mistral’s first acquisition and signals its ambition to evolve into a full-stack artificial intelligence player. Koyeb specializes in serverless cloud computing solutions, enabling developers to run applications without managing physical servers.
All 13 employees and the startup’s three co-founders will join Mistral following the acquisition.
The move comes shortly after Mistral announced a €1.2 billion investment in new data centres in Sweden, part of its broader strategy to build AI infrastructure within Europe and reduce reliance on foreign cloud providers.
Valued at $11.7 billion last year, Mistral is widely seen as Europe’s leading AI company as the region seeks technological independence in the global AI race.
