Amazon said its cloud computing unit AWS experienced disruption in its Bahrain region due to drone activity linked to ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The company confirmed it is assisting customers in migrating workloads to alternative regions while recovery efforts continue. However, it has not disclosed the full extent of the disruption or a timeline for restoration.
This marks the second time in recent weeks that AWS operations in the region have been affected by military activity. Earlier incidents caused power outages and structural damage to facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, forcing temporary service interruptions.
AWS is a critical infrastructure provider supporting businesses, governments and digital platforms globally, making such disruptions significant for cloud reliability and regional stability.
The incident highlights increasing risks to data center operations in conflict zones, where physical infrastructure can be impacted by geopolitical tensions.
