American Airlines Resumes Flights After Temporary Nationwide Ground Stop

American Airlines has resumed normal flight operations after briefly grounding its aircraft across the United States on Tuesday evening due to a technology-related issue.

The disruption prevented new departures for a short period but did not affect flights that were already airborne.

FAA Issued Temporary Ground Stop

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop advisory through its Air Traffic Control System Command Center after American Airlines reported a technology issue affecting its operations.

The order temporarily halted departures of American Airlines aircraft while the airline worked to resolve the problem.

Flights that were already in the air continued operating as scheduled.

Operations Restored

American Airlines later confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the issue had been resolved and flights were departing again.

In a statement, the airline said:

“A technology issue briefly impacted connectivity for some of our systems on Tuesday evening. Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again. We put a temporary ground stop in place while our teams worked to resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”

Cause Remains Unknown

The airline did not disclose what caused the technology issue or specify which internal systems were affected.

No additional details have been released regarding the duration of the outage or how many flights experienced delays as a result.

Temporary Disruption

Although the ground stop briefly interrupted departures, the incident was resolved the same evening, allowing American Airlines to restore normal operations.

Passengers traveling on affected flights are encouraged to check their flight status directly with the airline for the latest updates regarding any residual delays.
