AT&T Expands Price Hikes to More Legacy Wireless Customers Starting in August

AT&T is expanding its latest round of wireless price increases, with more customers on older mobile plans set to see higher monthly bills beginning in August. The carrier says the changes now affect subscribers who activated certain retired plans between July 24 and November 1, 2025, broadening a pricing update that initially targeted only older accounts.

To ease the impact, AT&T is also increasing hotspot data allowances for many affected customers.

More Legacy Plans Now Included

When AT&T first announced the price increases earlier this year, they applied only to customers using retired unlimited plans activated before July 24, 2025.

The carrier has now extended the increases to customers who joined eligible plans between July 24 and November 1, 2025, including:

  • Unlimited Premium PL
  • Unlimited Extra EL
  • Value Plus VL

According to AT&T, these customers were initially excluded because they had been on their plans for less than nine months.

How Much Prices Are Increasing

The amount customers pay depends on the type of plan and account.

For many retired unlimited plans:

  • Single-line accounts may see a $10 monthly increase.
  • Accounts with two or more lines may see a maximum $20 increase per account.

However, some customers report receiving notices showing a different adjustment:

  • $5 increase per smartphone line
  • 10GB of additional high-speed hotspot data per line

AT&T says accounts that did not receive the April increase and activated eligible plans during the specified period will begin seeing the new charges on August bills.

Mobile Share Plans Also Affected

The carrier has also increased pricing for several older Mobile Share plans:

  • Plans with less than 6GB of data increase by $5 per month.
  • Plans with more than 6GB of data increase by $10 per month.

Plans Subject to the New Fees

The pricing changes affect a wide range of retired wireless plans, including:

  • AT&T Unlimited Plus
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice II
  • AT&T Unlimited Plus Enhanced
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice Enhanced
  • AT&T Unlimited &More
  • AT&T Unlimited &More Premium
  • AT&T Unlimited Plan (Double Play)
  • Unlimited Starter SL
  • Unlimited Extra EL
  • Unlimited Premium PL
  • Unlimited Starter
  • Unlimited Extra
  • Unlimited Premium
  • Mobile Share Value
  • Mobile Share Value – Double Data
  • Mobile Share Plus
  • Mobile Share Advantage

Additional Hotspot Data Included

To offset the higher monthly costs, AT&T is increasing hotspot allowances on many affected plans.

Depending on the account, customers may receive:

  • 20GB of additional high-speed hotspot data per month, or
  • 10GB of extra hotspot data per smartphone line.

The exact benefit varies by plan and account.

AT&T Says Costs Reflect Network Investment

AT&T says the increases are necessary to support continued investment in its network and customer experience.

According to the company, the higher prices help fund:

  • Reliable wireless service
  • Improved products
  • Ongoing customer support

AT&T also maintains that its latest wireless plans remain competitively priced and better reflect how customers use mobile services today.

Upgrading May Now Be the Better Deal

For some subscribers, the latest increases make switching to AT&T’s newer plans more attractive.

For example, after the new pricing takes effect, an older Unlimited Premium PL plan may cost more than the company’s current Premium 2.0 offering while providing fewer benefits.

The latest adjustments follow a broader trend across the U.S. wireless industry, with major carriers including Verizon and T-Mobile also revising plan pricing and encouraging customers to migrate from legacy plans to newer offerings.
