Chinese robotics company Unitree has unveiled a new high-speed humanoid robot nicknamed “Superman” just days before its highly anticipated Shanghai stock market debut.
The Hangzhou-based company said the robot was developed in just over three months and can perform a 2-meter standing jump while reaching a top speed of 12.66 meters per second.
Unitree, currently the world’s largest humanoid robot maker by sales, is scheduled to begin trading in Shanghai after raising 6.1 billion yuan ($905 million) in its IPO. Retail demand was exceptionally strong, with the offering reportedly oversubscribed more than 8,000 times.
The company has also disclosed that it had produced and delivered around 18,000 bipedal humanoid robots across multiple models as of July.
The unveiling comes as investor interest in China’s robotics sector intensifies. Unitree is backed by major technology groups including Tencent, Alibaba and DeepSeek, while offshore derivative markets have already pointed to expectations for a strong trading debut.
The new robot remains under development, but its launch reinforces Unitree’s strategy of demonstrating increasingly advanced physical capabilities as competition in humanoid robotics accelerates.
