Apple has announced iPhone Duo, bringing a foldable design to its smartphone lineup. Unveiled on September 9, the device combines a 5.4-inch outer display with a 7.6-inch inner screen for a larger workspace when opened.
A Different Way to Use iPhone
The phone uses A20 Pro, a vapor-chamber thermal system and a dual-battery design. Apple says iOS 27 adapts to the folding format, while Touch ID is integrated into the side button.
Both screens share an aspect ratio, intended to make content feel more continuous when switching between them. The inner display also uses a nano-texture finish designed to reduce reflections.
Launch Comes in October
Pre-orders are scheduled for October 16, with availability beginning October 23. The announced colors are star white and night sky. Apple Pencil with USB-C support is planned for later this year rather than being presented as a launch-day feature.
Permus perspective: the larger display makes app layout and multitasking especially important. Apple’s announcement sets out the hardware promise, but everyday comfort, app adaptation and long-term durability will require hands-on testing.
