Bharti Airtel has entered into a strategic partnership with IBM to expand its cloud service portfolio through the recently launched Airtel Cloud, marking another step in India’s fast-growing AI and cloud computing landscape.

The partnership will integrate IBM’s cloud and AI-ready servers into Airtel’s ecosystem, allowing businesses in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and public administration to deploy advanced computing applications securely.

The companies will also build two new Multizone Regions (MZRs) in Mumbai and Chennai, offering enhanced data protection and business continuity. These distributed infrastructures ensure that operations remain functional even if one zone experiences an outage, helping Indian companies comply with data residency laws.

The move follows Google’s $15 billion AI data center investment in Andhra Pradesh, where Airtel is a co-partner, reflecting India’s growing role as a global cloud and AI hub.

Gopal Vittal, vice chairman and managing director of Bharti Airtel, said the collaboration will “empower enterprises to scale digital operations securely and efficiently.”

Airtel’s cloud division Xtelify launched the Airtel Cloud platform in August, offering tailored cloud and AI solutions for Indian enterprises. The partnership with IBM will strengthen its position against global rivals like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
