A major data leak linked to Abu Dhabi Finance Week has exposed sensitive identity documents belonging to hundreds of global attendees, including prominent political and financial figures.

According to reports, scans of more than 700 passports and national identity cards were found on an unsecured cloud storage server tied to the state-backed event, which hosted over 35,000 participants in December.

Among those affected were former UK Prime Minister David Cameron, hedge fund billionaire Alan Howard, and U.S. investor Anthony Scaramucci.

The exposed files were reportedly accessible through a standard web browser without authentication, after being discovered by an independent cybersecurity researcher.

Organisers stated that the issue originated from a vulnerability in a third-party vendor-managed storage system involving a limited subset of attendees. The system was secured immediately after the problem was identified.

Initial assessments indicate that access was limited to the researcher who reported the vulnerability.
