A few years ago, the concept of a mouse pad that wirelessly charges your mouse during gameplay gained considerable attention. However, interest waned due to the high cost and the inconvenience of being tethered by USB cables. Yet, Logitech is reviving this idea with a surprising twist in affordability.

Enter the G309 Lightspeed gaming mouse. On the surface, it appears unremarkable with its standard size and two-button shooter setup. But beneath its modest exterior lies cutting-edge technology. Most notably, it features wireless charging capability using Logitech’s PowerPlay system. When paired with their $120 mouse pad, gamers can enjoy uninterrupted play sessions without worrying about battery life.

But that’s not all. For those on the move or using conventional mouse pads without charging capabilities, the G309 Lightspeed offers versatility. It includes a single AA battery bay, providing up to 300 hours of wireless gaming before needing a replacement. This feature makes it a lightweight 68 grams without the PowerPlay adapter or 86 grams with it.

Priced at just $80, this isn’t Logitech’s first dual-option wireless mouse, but it’s certainly the most affordable. Additionally, it comes bundled with a battery, ensuring gamers can start using it right out of the box.

The G309 Lightspeed also boasts standard gaming mouse specs like 1ms wireless connectivity via dongle or Bluetooth, a high-performance 25,600 DPI sensor, five onboard memory profiles, enhanced grip tape for better control, and PTFE mouse feet for smooth gliding.
