The first addition, semantic file search, allows users to find files using natural language rather than relying on exact names or keywords. For instance, queries like “find my CV” or “find images of bridges at sunset on my PC” will surface relevant results. This feature gives users granular control over which files and folders Copilot can access, but it will be exclusive to Copilot+ PCs equipped with advanced NPUs, ensuring the AI capabilities run efficiently.
Alongside semantic file search, Microsoft has revamped the Copilot home page to provide a more streamlined experience, integrating recent apps, files, and ongoing conversations in one central hub. The update, which underscores Microsoft’s push to make AI more central to Windows 11, is being distributed gradually via the Microsoft Store across all Insider channels.
