AI company Perplexity, best known for its free AI-powered answer engine, is expanding its portfolio with the launch of a new productivity tool: Perplexity Email Assistant. This advanced assistant integrates directly into users’ inboxes, bringing generative AI capabilities to email management. With its focus on streamlining communication, the Email Assistant aims to help professionals and teams save time, reduce clutter, and maintain better control over their daily correspondence.
The assistant is designed to handle a wide range of tasks. It can draft emails in a user’s personal tone and conversational style, automatically organize messages for improved efficiency, and even suggest meeting times to simplify scheduling. For lengthy back-and-forth threads, Email Assistant can participate directly, reducing the effort needed to keep up with ongoing conversations. On top of that, it can also retrieve key information on demand—whether that’s surfacing the most urgent messages ahead of a meeting or generating a summary of emails tied to a particular subject, such as budget discussions or project planning.
Privacy and security are central to the tool’s design. Perplexity emphasizes that Email Assistant complies with SOC 2 and GDPR standards by default and makes clear that user data is not used for model training. This commitment is likely aimed at reassuring professionals who are cautious about adopting AI tools within sensitive workflows.
Currently, Email Assistant is exclusively available to subscribers of Perplexity’s premium Max plan, which costs $200 per month. It supports both Gmail and Outlook, making it compatible with two of the most widely used email platforms. Max subscribers can already begin signing up to integrate Email Assistant into their workflow, signaling Perplexity’s ambition to carve out a space in the increasingly competitive AI productivity market.
