AI startup Anthropic is finalizing a funding round expected to exceed $20 billion and could close as soon as next week, Bloomberg News reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The company did not immediately comment, and the report could not be independently verified.
Anthropic, maker of the Claude chatbot, was initially seeking $10 billion but is now on track to raise more than double that amount amid strong investor demand. The round would value the company at roughly $350 billion, underscoring the intense appetite for leading AI developers as competition accelerates across the sector.
If completed, the financing would rank among the largest private funding rounds on record and further highlight the scale at which capital is flowing into frontier AI. The surge in interest reflects expectations that advanced models and enterprise adoption could drive outsized growth, even as questions persist around costs, regulation, and long-term profitability.
