Google has released another security update for Google Chrome version 145 instead of launching the expected Chrome 146 update.
The latest release—versions 145.0.7632.159/160 for Windows and macOS and 145.0.7632.159 for Linux—addresses 10 security vulnerabilities. According to Google, none of the flaws have been actively exploited in the wild.
In a post on the Chrome Releases blog, Google developer Srinivas Sista detailed the vulnerabilities patched in this update. Nine of the issues were reported by external security researchers.
Critical vulnerabilities in graphics libraries
Three of the fixed flaws are classified as critical, all of them related to graphics libraries used by the browser:
- CVE-2026-3536 in the ANGLE graphics layer
- CVE-2026-3538 in the Skia graphics engine
- CVE-2026-3537 affecting the PowerVR GPU framework developed by Imagination Technologies
The remaining vulnerabilities were labeled high risk, with several tied to implementation issues in CSS components and the V8 JavaScript Engine used by Chrome.
Updates across platforms
The update also extends to mobile platforms. Chrome for Android 145.0.7632.159 fixes the same security vulnerabilities as the desktop version, while Chrome for iOS 146.0.7680.38 has already been released.
Meanwhile, the Extended Stable Channel for Windows and macOS now includes Chromium version 144.0.7559.236.
Chrome typically installs updates automatically, but users can manually check by navigating to Help → About Google Chrome in the browser’s menu.
Where is Chrome 146?
Last week, Google rolled out Chrome 146 to roughly 0.5 percent of users as an “early stable release.” The wider rollout expected this week has not yet occurred, although the version has already appeared on iOS.
There has also been confusion about Chrome’s release cadence. While some AI-generated sources claim Google moved to a two-week release cycle in 2026, Google’s official roadmap shows that shorter cycles will only begin later in the year. Starting around August, new versions are expected to ship every two weeks, which could push Chrome to version 160 by the end of the year.
