Match Group is investing $100 million in Sniffies, a fast-growing dating platform focused on non-heterosexual men, securing a significant minority stake plus an option to acquire the remaining business later.
The move mirrors Match’s earlier strategy with Hinge, where an initial minority investment eventually led to a full acquisition. Match appears to be using the deal to expand its reach in niche and underserved dating segments while seeking new growth beyond core brands like Tinder.
Sniffies reportedly has around 3 million monthly active users globally, making it a meaningful challenger in LGBTQ+ dating markets traditionally dominated by competitors such as Grindr.
The investment comes as dating platforms increasingly face user fatigue, shifting preferences and pressure to improve engagement through better product design and AI-enhanced matchmaking.
