Cadence Design Systems has increased its full-year financial outlook after strong demand for its AI-powered electronic design automation (EDA) software continued to fuel growth across the semiconductor industry.

The company raised both its 2026 revenue and profit forecasts, reflecting increasing investment by chipmakers and technology companies developing advanced AI processors, systems-on-chip (SoCs), and next-generation computing platforms.

Following the announcement, Cadence shares rose in after-hours trading as investors welcomed the stronger outlook and continued momentum in AI-related semiconductor design.

Cadence’s software plays a critical role in the semiconductor development process. Its EDA tools enable engineers to design, simulate, verify, and optimize increasingly complex integrated circuits before manufacturing begins. As AI chips become more sophisticated, demand for advanced design software has grown alongside demand for the chips themselves.

The company’s customer base includes some of the world’s largest technology firms, including Nvidia and Apple, both of which rely on advanced chip design tools to develop high-performance processors for artificial intelligence, consumer electronics, and data center infrastructure.

Cadence now expects 2026 revenue between $6.26 billion and $6.34 billion, up from its previous guidance of $6.13 billion to $6.23 billion. The revised forecast also exceeds Wall Street expectations.

The company also increased its annual adjusted earnings forecast to $8.05–$8.15 per share, reflecting continued operational strength and growing customer demand across AI-focused semiconductor projects.

Second-quarter financial results further reinforced that momentum. Revenue increased 24.2% year over year to $1.584 billion, while adjusted earnings exceeded analyst expectations. Cadence also reported a substantial order backlog of $8.1 billion, with more than half expected to convert into revenue over the next twelve months, providing strong visibility into future growth.

Earlier this month, Cadence expanded its AI portfolio with the introduction of AuraStack, an AI-powered engineering assistant designed to simplify semiconductor development. Rather than manually configuring complex workflows, engineers can describe design objectives in natural language, allowing the system to automatically plan, execute, and coordinate tasks across Cadence’s existing design and verification software.

The launch reflects a broader transformation taking place within chip development. Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used not only inside semiconductor products but also throughout the engineering process itself, helping designers reduce development time, optimize performance, and accelerate innovation.

As demand for AI accelerators, custom silicon, and specialized processors continues to rise, electronic design automation companies are becoming increasingly important within the semiconductor ecosystem. Their software serves as the foundation upon which virtually every modern chip is created.

With technology companies investing hundreds of billions of dollars in AI infrastructure, Cadence is positioned to benefit not only from rising semiconductor production but also from the growing complexity of chip architectures that require more advanced design, simulation, and verification capabilities.
