Meta has introduced new automation capabilities for its Meta AI assistant, enabling the chatbot to complete tasks with greater independence as the company continues its push toward more personalized artificial intelligence experiences.
Powered by Meta’s new Muse Spark 1.1 model, the upgraded assistant is designed to better understand user context and carry out routine activities without requiring continuous instructions. The new features represent another step in the industry’s transition from conversational AI toward proactive digital assistants capable of managing everyday workflows.
Among the new capabilities, Meta AI can generate daily briefings by summarizing upcoming calendar events and reminders. Users can also create recurring automated tasks, including weekly meal plans, scheduled information updates, and personalized trend summaries.
The company is initially rolling out the features through the Meta AI app and Meta.ai in selected markets, with broader availability planned across additional regions and Meta platforms, including WhatsApp.
Meta emphasized that users will remain in control of how the assistant operates. Privacy-focused options such as incognito chats will continue to be available, allowing conversations that are not retained for personalization.
The announcement reflects a broader shift across the AI industry. Technology companies are increasingly competing to build assistants that do more than answer questions, instead acting as digital agents capable of organizing schedules, managing information, automating repetitive tasks, and assisting with daily decision-making.
Meta describes this direction as part of its long-term vision of “personal superintelligence,” where AI systems understand individual preferences, context, and routines to provide increasingly personalized assistance.
Alongside the AI announcement, Meta also introduced a new Seller application aimed at merchants using Facebook Marketplace. The dedicated app provides specialized tools designed to help businesses manage listings, sales, and customer interactions more efficiently, further strengthening Meta’s e-commerce ecosystem.
The new AI features arrive just days before Meta’s upcoming quarterly earnings report, where investors are expected to closely examine the company’s AI investments, product adoption, and monetization strategy as competition intensifies across the artificial intelligence sector.
With major technology companies racing to develop increasingly capable AI assistants, Meta’s latest update demonstrates that the next stage of AI competition is shifting beyond chatbots toward autonomous systems that can actively complete tasks on behalf of users.
