Coinbase shares fell more than 5% in premarket trading after the cryptocurrency exchange reported its third consecutive quarterly loss, as weaker crypto market conditions continued to weigh on results.
The decline comes amid a broader downturn in digital assets, with Bitcoin down more than 27% this year, pressured by persistent inflation and reduced expectations for U.S. interest rate cuts.
Despite the loss, analysts remain optimistic about Coinbase’s long-term outlook. They point to the company’s growing 10.3% share of crypto trading and its strategy of expanding beyond traditional spot trading into stablecoins, derivatives, and perpetual crypto futures.
Analysts believe these diversified revenue streams could help Coinbase better withstand future downturns in the cryptocurrency market.
