Swiss hearing-aid maker Sonova has launched its third platform using real-time artificial intelligence, expanding its technology portfolio as it seeks to support medium-term growth targets.
The new Phonak EON platform is designed to improve speech clarity in noisy environments while making devices smaller and lighter. Sonova said the system’s AI can make speech twice as understandable while reducing the listening effort required from users.
Sonova was the first major hearing-aid company to introduce a product using real-time AI to separate speech from background noise in 2024. The company is now betting that faster technology upgrades will encourage existing customers to replace devices sooner while also attracting new users.
Management expects adoption of EON to grow quickly among both replacement and first-time customers. While Sonova did not disclose pricing, the platform is intended to reinforce the company’s premium market positioning.
The product is launching first in the United States, followed by Australia and major European markets including Germany, France, Italy and Britain in mid-September, before a wider global rollout.
Sonova is also focusing on growth in Asia-Pacific and Latin America, where ageing populations and increasing demand for hearing care are creating longer-term opportunities.
