Prime Video plans to invest more than $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030 as it expands local productions, live sports and streaming services across the region.
The company said it will more than double the number of locally produced originals in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile, with more than 25 new titles scheduled for 2027.
Prime Video is also strengthening its sports offering. Under its long-term NBA agreement, the platform now carries more than 200 games per season in Brazil and Mexico, while also bringing NBA coverage to Argentina, Colombia and Chile.
In Mexico, Prime Video will become a new home for the national football team, streaming 38 home matches over four years beginning next month.
The company also plans to expand its marketplace model across Latin America. Customers in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay and Peru will soon be able to subscribe to third-party streaming services directly through the Prime Video app, while rentals and premium content purchases will also become available.
The investment reflects Amazon’s broader effort to strengthen Prime Video’s position against global and regional streaming rivals by combining local entertainment, sports rights and platform distribution.
