Microsoft is updating the Edge Add-ons review process as extension submissions increase. In a September 8 announcement, the Edge team said it has automated repeatable validation checks and streamlined the review pipeline to help updates reach users sooner.
Faster Processing, Same Review Standards
According to Microsoft, the changes do not lower the standards extensions must meet. Automated checks address familiar policy and security issues, allowing reviewers to focus more attention on cases that require human judgment.
The company has not provided a guaranteed turnaround time in this announcement, so developers should avoid assuming that every submission will be approved within a fixed window.
Quality Recognition Every 15 Days
Microsoft is also refreshing Featured badges every 15 days. Its evaluation uses more than 60 quality signals, covering areas such as reliability, security and user experience.
Permus perspective: shorter review delays could make maintenance releases more useful to users, while more frequent badge updates may reward sustained improvements. For extension developers, the practical priority remains the same: clear functionality, reliable behavior and careful attention to permissions. Faster processing is not a substitute for a well-tested release.
